White-Papers Provide Useful Information
White-papers are technical documents that are used primarily by IT companies as marketing and sales tools. This document is an 8 1/2" by 11" plain-paper type booklet containing between 8 and 32 pages. It is designed to look "plain Jane" using non-glossy photocopier quality paper weighing 20 to 24lb. It is printed plainly in black ink to look "honest" and discusses technical matter and or case studies of user installations. Companies distribute them to their customers and interested parties. Often, they provide very useful information, explaining how complex things work and what benefits they deliver. As with other technical documents the success results are based on proper homework. Bad ones can turn potential customers off. The typical top page looks similar as shown in the illustration at top of this page. It begins with a heading that provides the reader an idea of what to expect, followed by the name of the sponsor (the company that is publishing this writing). Next, comes the word Abstract, Posted date, Publishing date, the Format used normally (Adobe) PDF, Length of this discourse , Type this one is obvious. The next section is the brief discussing the main topic telling readers the good news about the great solution that the company is unleashing to its customers. Finally, the Browser Related Resources Section at the very bottom of the page listing all types of important resources available to customers to browse through.
