Bulletin Newsletter Sees Progress

progress

Like so many consumers I buy software whenever the need arises and this time I got hold of a new photo-editing suite at one of the popular big box mass electronic goods merchants.

After reading the cover of this product I was proud of myself for spending the money getting this powerful software. It was then that I decided to open the box to see what was inside. Almost immediately I noticed that there seemed be something missing, one very important item... written documentation!

Today in a continuing effort to better their "bottom line" many vendors, almost as if on cue, are not including hard copy documentation with their goods.

The result is buyers are spending hundreds even thousands of their hard earned money on all types of high-tech goodies and are left babling to themselves scratching their heads figuring out how the damn things work.

In the past before high-tech, you could count on a manual being included. Now don't think I am reminicing about the "good ole days", no because a lot of times that so-called manual was just crap written by someone who knew very little English grammar.

If you did find a good manual you usually discovered the answers to the problems you were having.

Today, this has been replaced by a CD-ROM or a DVD that you run on your computer and fish through most likely a badly worded online PDF document. The other alternative which is not voluntary, is that your computer is immediately high-jacked to a URL on the Internet.

Again after arriving at the manufacturer's URL, you probably will have lots of fun sorting through the links and various pages at the website trying to find that proverbial "needle-in-the-haystack", your answer.

Oh well, I guess that's progress in our 21st Century.

Photo of the Month

Each month we will have an interesting photo along with a small description about it.

This month we have an image of a vintage Canadian airforce trainer aircraft taxiing for takeoff from Uplands airforce base near Ottawa, Ontario in Canada. It was taking part in an airshow held annually.
